thats strange, before it didnt show availability, now it does. does that mean c+p might open up?

Call SPG and a hotel manager and find out if C+P is open or can be opened.

now that the wesin is no longer avail with points, does anyone have any experience with the hyatt? (to use ffn's)

Why didn't you just book it??? You know it's always cancellable...

Hyatt Maui is notoriously hard to use FFN's at.  Have to book very early, or very close if there are cancellations.  Or try to negotiate directly with the hotel to open inventory.
Or go to the superior GH Kauai, although that can be a tough FFN also.

Did you try calling SPG to see if it can be booked C+P? Ive done that numerous times when it shows as unavailable online (in fact i just did it last night).
