Air Berlin questions
« on: April 04, 2013, 11:53:01 AM »
1) What is the baggage allowance for JFK-TXL-TLV per person? I'm getting conflicting info from their site, CheckMyTrip.com, and other sources. Can someone who has personal experience please chime in?

2) If the above-mentioned flights are preceded by CLE-JFK on AA with a three hour stop in JFK, will AA check the bags all the way through from CLE to TLV, since they are part of the same alliance as Air Berlin?

3) Is there any way to add frequent flyer numbers to an Air Berlin reservation online, or only by phone? What about requesting kosher meals?

Thanks!

I flew them in August 2011 with a stopover in DUS. I also found that conflicting information but I was allowed 2 bags for both of us. YMMV.
I called them to request kosher food but they forgot it on our first leg. Definitely bring your own.

1) IME (flew more than once, this year) the regular one bag like everyone else.

KSML - you can request on the phone, but IIRC it must be with at least 48 hr notice.
IME, when I did order (i.e. when the flight was booked in advance), I sometimes got, and sometimes didn't.  While another time that I didn't order (read: flight booked ~ the same day), they happenned to have an extra.  But FYI their KSML are not necessarily reliable (TLV-TXL), i.e. possibly even no hechsher(!), YMMV.

There a plenty of hotels nearby. Also, I got a BRG at the Holiday Inn near TXL that you can try as well.

flew in oct. my confirmation from BA said 2 bags but AB.com said only one bag    so I printed out the BA paper, argued with them at the airport for 2 minutes and they let me take both bags     good luck
And you have to recheck your suitcases at jfk

if going jfk-dus-tlv, first leg in business and second in coach, all on same itinerary which was booked with avios, is it safe to assume can take 2 bags 70lbs each?

it seems from air berlins website that all business class gets that i didnt find explicit even if its award seat, although didnt think that should matter... any clear source or personal experience very much appreciated.

If it's one ticket, it should go by MSC (most significant carrier), which - in this case - would be Air Berlin business.

Yes. Mentioned in first post when I asked that wasn't clear on their website. Didn't find anything clear with Google. Not sure how common sense plays a role in baggage policy. Either way do you know the answer? Thanks for ur help
