How many hard pulls do you have?
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:51:22 PM »
Hey, Gang-

Taking an informal poll to see how many hard pulls you have and are still successful at getting new cards. My next churn is right around the corner and I currently have 17 hard pulls in the last 12 months from Experian (which seems to be the only one the CC companies use in So. Cal). Just wondering when my luck will run out. To be fair, some of those pulls were from 2 car loans and a house refi.

Thanks, all!

I think the hard pull count goes by a 2 year record.

I don't think you should have an issue getting a card, as long as you have decent credit. You should be able to call recon and explain you past pulls and they should approve you.

Just out of curiosity, even if EX pulls for all your apps, when doing a 2/3bm, how did you end up with 17 pulls within 12 months.

The main reason is a refi that took 6 months to go through and 4-5 pulls when the process took too long, then 2 different car loans for 4 pulls (didn't get combined). The rest from CC apps. I just started scouring the DD boards about 4 months ago and didn't know about the 2/3bm other than the now defunct AA (which I got just in the knick of time). Just curious more than anything as I'm trying to figure out what to do this time around and would love to get 4/5 cards with minimal pulls (obviously).

You may be right. However, our scores are 750+. Maybe I should just freeze EX.

Get some cards for your wife...

Same boat for her.

Would still love to hear how many some of you have. Remembering that picture of 300+(?) cards Dan has acquired and I have to believe he has more than 20 inquires with one of the bureaus over the course of 2 years.

Anybody care to share what their max pull count is/was and still be successful?

Your wife should have ten less pulls than you.

And I'm pretty sure that guys like Dan invest some effort to achieve bumpage.

How many of them are in the past 6 months?
That's what really counts.

Are you sure?
I have heard that the main thing is the last year.
Or, do different credit card companies have different standards.

The effect gets on your score gets lower in intervals, 3, 6, 9, 12, etc.
Banks like Chase are primarily concerned with 6 months.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
