Author Topic: Want to buy unlocked phone (Read 3070 times)

not much. I'm leaving tuesday and in the past wasn't very successful on ebay just wanted to know if someone has an extra that he's not using or an old phone (i.e. older than the one hes using now)

Not sure how much "not much" is but what about this?

It's great as a travel phone since it has Nokia Maps on it without Data! The phone itself should work great as Windows phone offers a smooth performance.
It isn't the prettiest phone IMO but as a spare/travel it seems good to me.

Legally if the phone was manufactured after Jan-26-13 you can not unlock the phone without the original providers consent.

So these companies don't do it anymore?

I suppose the legal risk is the end user that enters the unlock code.

By applying the unlock code, it is changing the factory software of the phone which is a copyright infringement.

Hopefully this new bill will get changed, as there was a whitehouse petition with 100,000 votes.

I'm looking to buy a decent unlocked smartphone (sim).
Id rather not spend too much and it needn't be something too fancy, but it should have a decent amount of storage.
