How do all these people that ask (annoy) you for your help know your a ddfer? Do you publicize it?
This isnt the best thread, but since it was mentioned.....
Do DDFers know fellow DDFers personally?
I, for one, dont think ive actually met a fellow DDfer?

That's my favorite part of ddf! I have met some of the nicest people I know on ddf!

Eta- I get a ton of questions from many random people. I try to just email the ddf thread and tell them everything is there just read. Or if its simple I give a quick answer.

That's one of the points of a DO. I've met many people on ddf..
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

Ok I always wondered about this: has anyone ever met a fellow DDFer at a  DO and it turned out to be someone they know and hate?

Thats not a problem.

I think OP is talking about when your friend asks for his great aunts cousin and you put tons of effort into and the whole thing goes capput, it gets very frustrating.

I have no problem helping anyone who asks for help, but what I hate are those people who after listening to my advice, they tell me: "listen, I'm not going to visit you in Rikers Island".
Why are they so mean?
... and I'm the one who actually ends up visiting them, Honestly.

I keep seeing this recurring pattern where you say Dan helps for free etc, I'm not sure if you're aware of this but this isn't a "non-profit website". Yes Dan helps ppl but that also fuels his site which in turn is his livelihood!
It's far worse for me.
There's a whole class of people that believe because I do this for a living and they opened up credit cards using my links that I owe it to them to give them an answer at their beck and call.

Never mind that they would've opened up those cards regardless or may not have even known about the benefits if not for DD.  It's not that it's not appreciated (of course it is, this is my livelihood), it's that I get 1,000+ such communications on a daily basis and many of them wind up being angry at me for not helping.
As it is I'm at a computer for 15-18 hours a day, if I actually responded to everyone personally I wouldn't even be able to sleep for a few hours...

Never mind that every 4th cousin and their roommate is angry for not telling them about xyz deal.

C'est la vie I suppose.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hopefully those that have made it this far (the vast majority of DD readers never do) realize that I'm just another regular guy and that there are plenty of others who would love to give back to the community and help out.
Provided they make a post and don't pester everyone via PM.

And yet those 67+ still seem to not get it.
