Sydney with Miles

Looking to go to Sydney in early august (9-17?) 2 + baby travelling. I have lots of miles in AA ;D but also some in united, continental and BA.
Any advice?

 why would you want to use your Miles anyway?? tkts can be had for $1000 and U earn back apx 21k

 last month paid $836ai for my tkt  ($710 base fare, now its $910) thats out of NY

Dan u wrote about economy plus seats on united. How does one get those seats do you have to be 1k?

 3P and up (3P is a level that cant be earned and is below what most carriers would call Silver) w/o status you can always purchase it for $$, dont know if you can Pay Up to E+ if flying on a Mileage Tkt

In advance 3P/2P/1P/1K/GS all get E+ with a companion (or multiple companions if you play your cards right)
At the gate any *A elite (especially a CO elite) can get E+ with most agents.
