Worth using AA points for car rental?
« on: April 09, 2013, 02:11:37 PM »
I need a mini-van or full-size SUV from LGA for 5 days. Lowest price I found was from Enterprise using corporate accounts for $413 taxes-in.

Alternatively, I can use 5660 AA points at National for a total of 28,300 points + taxes. I'm assuming taxes will be about $100 based on the rates I'm seeing at National right now. So, 28,300 points is saving me about $300 at a benefit of $.016 a point. I know that's not great value but the rates I get with AA is far lower than the non-elite (or co-branded card rate) rate of 63,500 points so its kind of tempting.

Unless anyone has any better ideas on how to get a good rate from LGA. Didn't have much luck with Hertz but I'm not that well-versed with then (there's 86 pages on DDF!)
