How do these phones work? Can you get Verizon service without a contract? How does it work?

They work with Verizon if you have a plan.
Or they work with a sim card on other networks.

If you only use it on Verizon, does it pay if you pay 200 with a contract?

You pay $200 a month? Or for the phone? I didn't understand the question.

it all depends if u r locked in to a contract or not... if u r then it makes more sense to buy it for 400 dollar otherwise just get a new contract

So every who got the Z10, how is it?

I used to be die hard BB Addict but then i got sick and tired of all the problems the phones gave me so i jumped ship.

I heard that the new BB10's arent really anything special.

I dunno, the Android experience isn't just sideloaded apps.
Google now and google integration has become very powerful.
And the stock Android keyboard with Swype (as of 4.2.2) is incredible.

Imo its worth it to buy the phone straight and not have a contact. Verizon allows u to activate it without a contract when u bought the phone outright

If you are due for an upgrade the phone is now $99 thru amazon.  That price is great even compared to the very low price that is being offered here.  However, if you are not due for an upgrade or you really need to keep your unlimited data then buying the phone outright here is a good option

I dont have experience with google now (it seems very useful if it works exactly how it they describe it) but I have spent some time with swype and you cannot compare it with the z10 keyboard.

Again, I had and got rid of the old swype as the keyboard was worthless.
I'm talking about the new stock keyboard that has build in swype that the GNex has with the latest 4.2.2 update.

And Google Now is how its advertised-incredible.
