The T&C says "Offer not available to existing Starwood Preferred Guest (Business) Credit Cardmembers. "

What if my wife currently does not have any spg cards that she is primary on?
I closed hers to avoid the annual fee and was going to reopen soon. So technically, she is not an "existing" cardmember.

If her being an additional cardholder makes her an "existing" cardmember, i could always cancel those cards real quick.

Looking at the regular application, the T&C are differant. They state: "Bonus Starpoints are for first-time Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Cardmembers only. Bonus Starpoints can only be received once per Cardmember, regardless of the number of Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card accounts the Cardmember may have or had."

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!!! I just applied and got approved! This is my first cc here in the US (I'm an additional on my wife's on all the others) so it's a good way to start..... :) :)

I hope that being additional on my wife's spg won't be a problem though......

Seems like an awesome deal!  Any reason not to sign up for this if I've never had an spg card in my name?  I was trying to hold out for a good sign -up bonus...

yep, its normal to get the 14 day notice. If not approved, you'll get a letter telling why, and a number to call to ask or appeal.  Many times, it 's an issue of AMEX not wanting to extend too much credit - you may want to close another account or transfer credit line to make room for this.  FYI A single credit inquiry usually costs between 2-10 points on your FICO score- usually 3 to 4 if you haven't had a lot of hard inquiries in the last 2 years (a lot being more than 7).  Creditkarma.com is free and has a simulator that estimates the effect of a single hard credit pull on your score.

This is the best deal that's ever been put out for SPG point accumulation. Usually it's not churnable.

Does anyone know if it will actually go through if you already have starwoods? Citi also says you cant get the bonus anymore if you have gotten it but people do still get it...

I was also told I'll receive an answer in 14 days.  If denied, is there anyway to still get this deal?

How in the world could you get the deal if you get denied?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I'm sorry I wasn't so clear.  I have a near perfect credit, yet sometimes they don't accept an application for one reason or another.  I would like to know, is there anyway to argue their decision, and than be able to receive this offer?

I would think so. What reason did they give for the denial?

I plan to open the personal and business cards again for the wife.

Would it be advisable to cancel her current spg card which is an additional card on my account? Any thoughts?

Would being an additional cardholder on an account be considered an "existing Starwood Preferred Guest (Business) Credit Cardmember"?

they said i was too big of a risk for amex.  yet i have the premier card and have had many amex cards in the past.
