Does anyone know if Amsterdam is easily accessible with a stroller?
It is. Some of the streets around the central canals are cobblestone, so it might be bumpy, but otherwise no problem.

Thanx! My wife was saying that since Bugagboo is made in Amsterdam, it has to be that the streets are made accessible for the stroller!!

Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam South is just a 5 minute walk to Chabad. Not sure about rates.

+1. I'm not sure about rates either, but the Kosher breakfast, hot plate/ hot water urn, and Shabbat keys make the hotel an obvious choice for that area. It literally took all the hassle out of staying in hotels on Shabbat.

Guess it's a matter of opinion but we personally really enjoyed it. And don't think I would consider it a ripoff by any means. 16 Euros for about four beers, a tour of the factory, and a boat ride isn't bad at all.
heineken museum was great, especially if youre high as a kite

Do you (all) think that my 17.5yo son will be able to join us on the Heineken tour, and if so, will he be allowed to imbibe?  I mean, it's Amsterdam, right?

Not as extensive as the non Kosher breakfast, but definitely enough to get by on.

As per the Heineken Experience website: "Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. According to Dutch law and Heineken policy, we do not serve alcoholic beverages to visitors under the age of 18".
I personally do not remember being IDd there but cannot advise what would actually happen......

I'm stopping over myself in Amsterdam on June 18th for 9 hours. From 12pm until 9pm.

Any information on what to do? Which kosher restaurants and bakeries to go to? All information is greatly appreciated!

When we went, nobody gave a flying hoot as far as I.d., there were definitely ppl under 18 on our tour drinking... (As a matter of fact my wife took coke instead of beer at the end, and the guide was making fun "who comes to a beer factory and drinks coke"?)

Thanks to the posters above with the info on Heineken and age 17.

For a one-half day stopover in Amsterdam, my reading here and elsewhere would suggest Anne Frank House (if you have not been) and maybe one museum, like Van Gogh or the Rikh, but not both.  I don't know details about kosher food and hope others chime in. In particular , what is the local minhag on eating herring from street vendors? Do they serve herring in wine sauce (and how could that possibly be allowed without hechsher?) or is it salty herring with onions?

IIRC the groceries sold bakery-type items.

Thinking of taking advantage of 87k delta business class flights in December since I have off work. Is there enough to do for 4 days. I know its cold and possibly rainy. Whats current Kosher food situation?
