We are a group of 45 People of all ages that will be in Amsterdam on a 23 hour stopover in April.  We are arriving 10 AM and leaving 9:20 AM the following morning. We will probably stay at the new airport Hilton since we can easily walk to the Terminal for our AM flight and save time. We will have a coach bus for the day that will pick us up at the airport, take us around and end off at a restaurant and back to the hotel in the evening.  We will also have a tour guide.

We plan on visiting the Ann Frank House, a private Canal Boat Ride, City Center (flower market),  and Portuguese Synagogue.
I would appreciate advice and experience on the following.

1.   Would it be possible to also visit the Heineken Experience or is it too much.

2.   It seems like the best dining experience is the Sandwich Shop although it’s not the classiest since it’s unique to Amsterdam and we can go to a nice restaurant anywhere.  Do people agree and if so can they accommodate a large group.

3.   Are there restaurants or pizza shops that would prepare an early lunch for our group and possibly deliver it to the canal boat or bus?

I don't think 45 ppl can fit in Sal Meijer

I found it not unique at all, it's just a cold cut sandwich.

I enjoyed Habaron, interesting Dutch meat croquettes or so. I think if you rent the whole space it would hold 45pp. I would imagine they'd gladly cater an event.

Depending where you're co

Our tour guide is friends with the owners at Sal Meijer.  They recently moved so will find out if they have more space.  I will definitely consider Habaron .  Tnx

When i was there there this past summer, U were only allowed in with an online ticket at that time slot. After 3pm they have a line and you can wait and hopefully purchase tickets but there is no guarantee. Theres usually very long lines and people wait for hours.

if you travel in March, April, or May (check for exact opening dates) and have some time, Keukenhof is beautiful garden near Amsterdam. Fields of tulips and all kinds of designs made of flowers.

I stayed there during the week so I don't know all issues. But besides for the regular, the main entrance is automatic, and even if the first one is open from someone going out, there is still another automatic one 15 feet later.

room in W Amsterdam was way too modern and tiny.

Can anyone else comment on the W Amsterdam? The reviews only (on SPG site) are pretty brutal.  Planning to stay for shabbos too if anyone can comment - thanks!

Wiki says, mixed reviews for the Heineken experience, but I was there not long ago, and it's quite interesting.

Will be spending shabbos in Amsterdam on 6/24-6/25 with wife and newborn.  Planning to eat at the chabad Friday night.

I'd love to have a non-touristy, "authentic" meal shabbos day - is it a bad idea to Rav Aaron Schuster Synagogue / Obrecht Shul and hope to get invited for shabbos lunch?  Did something similar in Paris a few years back, one of most memorable parts of my trip...

Element far away from tourist/town center areas.

Regency recently opened up, maybe within past 6 months (2 blocks outside of eruv if that matters).  Don't know much about it.

I just stayed at Marriott - excellent experience there, can have kosher breakfast ordered if you're an SPG Gold or above.

Has anyone stayed at the NH Amsterdam Zuid Hotel? Any info on its location and if it's Shabbos friendly?

Would you say the Marriott is shabbos-friendly? How was the kosher breakfast? I'm looking into staying there in a few weeks for a long weekend.
Thanks!

I would definitely say it's shabbos friendly.  I emailed the hotel that I was a sabbath observer and they put me on the second/third floor (the lowest floor with rooms).  They were more than happy to accommodate, plus the concierge opened the room for us multiple times over shabbos when asked/hinted to.  The only issue is that there's no manual doors to enter the hotel (all entrances are electronic/automatic), so you need to wait for someone to go in/out and follow.  Ask your LOR.

Kosher breakfast is simple but solid.  Each breakfast came with 3 delicious rolls, some type of fruit, spreads (cheese, nutella, jam, butter), and a small piece of cake.  Sometimes lox or a bit of tuna was included.  Non-cholov yisrael except for some of the cheese, if that applies.  The lounge also has a plethora of kosher drinks (soda, beer, kosher chocolate) and fruit, which was helpful.  If staying there, make sure to email the hotel with a few days notice so they can place the order. See attached pic.

Thanks!

To order kosher breakfast, email: mhrs.amsnt.guestrelations@marriotthotels.com.  Cynthia Bosma is the Guest Relations Officer and extremely helpful.  Make sure to put in a good word for her - the more positive feedback, the happier they are to help with our needs.

Also, if staying for shabbos, for meals you can either go to Chabad or contact Lea Beck (whatsapp: +31 6 16 06 84 40) who's the hachnasos orchim coordinator for the local Amsterdam community.

Haven't had a chance to post my trip report yet...
