I'll have a full day tomorrow as well and would love to hear what you did.

Was there in September. Downloaded Rick Steves (has 3 tours covering different areas). First one starts at central station and the other 2 start outside the palace.

Walked through most of the city with the tour and stopped at many interesting places on the way.

For those who have stayed at Hyatt Regency, was public transport from the airport easy? How about to the main attractions (Van Gogh, canals etc)?

Convent to the metro and trams. From airport youd take train to central Station and switch to metro. Between the two you can get almost anywhere. The metro also goes to the area with kosher places in about 25 minutes.

Thanks! Is it a lot of walking from arrivals to the first station and then from metro to the hotel? (With all the suitcases...)

Separate question, we'll be arriving at around 9ish-10 PM, is public transportation safe at that time? And we will only have one day before heading out, enough time to see the sights from the hotel?

Seems chabad doesnt have a shabbos morning davening. they said i should go to the Gerard Dou Shul (http://www.gerarddou.org/) which is a 4 minute walk from the Chabad House, has anyone been there? which is the best shul for shabbos morning experience, is the portuguese worthwhile (some on the thread said it was nice, but is it too long)? Chabad lunch is at 1pm.

Portuguese is an amazing experience, though if you go in the winter they use a side room so I'm not sure. It's better I think to do the tour before shabbos so you can appreciate some of the details.

Went to the Portuguese shul on shabbos a couple months ago. They finished about 11:30/11:45am, so I had about an hour to kill till when Chabad starts their meal. Davening did not feel stretched out or long.

It says in the wiki that 8 hours is the minimum to stopover, however though if my stop is 7 hours does it makes sense to go into town and see stuff or is it a waste of time?

Sure, 3h is enough IMO.

Yes, doable. I did it on one of my trips, but used taxis to and from airport, you can also check the public transportation options .

Not sure where exactly I want to go but just to get an example even though heard its not worth it to go there, the Anne Frank Museum is around a 30 hour by train....

3 hours?
You mean 3 hours in the city proper?
Since getting back and forth will take time.
