Apparently, when you turn on a propane grill, after you open the gas, you have to wait thirty seconds before you turn the knobs on the grill so the gas can pressurize in the hose. Otherwise your grill will never get hot

i don't wait 30 seconds but there is a built in safety on the weber. if the knob isn't closed when you turn on the propane, it won't get hot. i learned this the hard way. all burners were blasting (so I thought) and it didn't go higher than 200

Exactly. Grill was on for twenty minutes and never went over 200

Is this common. I have a friend with a very nice grill that never gets hot. I never experienced that with any of the cheap gas grills that I own.

Is this a good deal?

http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/42105811

I know nothing about grills but am looking to buy one now...
this actually is a pretty good deal, looks virtually identical to a model sold under the Brinkmann name i bought like 6 years ago for $180 (usually 200). the thing will rust out in 5 years requiring new burners, but for first three it worked perfectly (always lighting etc) with above average porcelain coated cast iron grates that just need to be seasoned (search online for seasoning grates). I know everyone loves weber, but i am not persuaded by the value argument, esp when i can get a big 4 burner that heats up great and even for 3 years for less than 150, when after 5 years u also hit lighting and other issues with webers.
I gave away my cheap brinkmann last year to a family member looking for a starter grill (he loves it), and i got a Ducane 3-burner all stainless on sale. i can tell its better quality, but honestly sometimes i wish i had the additional space...

They don't make them like they used to. I had one for over 20 years. About 3 years ago I got a new one and it's already disintegrating.

I had a Ducane and it was great. I did have to replace minor parts over the years. Then I heard weber bought them out.

What do Ya'll think of this for 169 http://m.lowes.com/pd/Char-Broil-Advantage-BlackStainless-4-Burner-32000-BTU-Liquid-Propane-Gas-Grill-with-Side-Burner/50329719
I'd find this review concerning:
I use the grill a lot. The problem I have is the burners rust out quick. I replaced one for 27.00 dollars the first time. the next time the other three went bad. I can buy a new grill before replacing parts. I think the burners should last longer than they did. They are only three years old.

I just bought this from wm ten min ago. 128. Has solid ratings on the internet. And honestly I just need something for the next two three yrs.

Gd willing when I move into a house I will splurge - being that I can grill every night of the yr.
