Best award program for Multi-City Trip?
« on: April 15, 2013, 02:04:56 PM »
We are looking to travel from NYC area to TLV at the end of July, returning before Succos. We would like to maximize miles and stop in several places on the way there and back. Maybe hitting Hawaii andBangkok or New Zealand in one direction and Europe in the other. Is American the best option or is there something else that would work out to a better use of  miles? Probably in coach.

Unless you have major skills you'll probably need a RTW ticket. AA has pretty good rates

I am pretty award savvy, but never did multiple city awards. What else should I look at, other than AA?

Can you give me an example of what skills you are talking about?

AA and United both have RTW awards that you should be looking into.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you, will do. Should I look at AA as one ways or a round trip?

There is no such thing as OW or RT on a RTW.

Update. Two tickets in coach.

Doing Europe to TLV in the end. Did JFK-VCE via DUS on AB for 24500 avios ea, transferred amex at 35% bonus. 20ish in taxes.

FCO-ATH-TLV-EWR for 57,500 ea on United.  High taxes for this due to connection in YYZ, hoping to change to the direct. Stopping in Venice, Rome and Athens for a few days each. Agent said the routing was not bookable, but the computer let me do it!

Any comments, positive or negative, appreciated.
