MR to BA - NYC to MIAMI

Recently i heard people are transferring MR to BA Avios
15,000 takes you NYC to MIAMI Round Trip.

I never booked a ticket on Miles yet so i have a question

Is the above a wise thing to do given that;
15000 MR points can be sold for 1.5 = 225.00
and purchesing a ticket NYC to Miami with money is around 250.00

If you anyway need a ticket to FL and there is availability with miles, then I'd say it's a good use for your MR.

Before you transfer, go to AA.com and make sure American has Saaver (not Standard) availability for direct flights for the flights you want. Also take into consideration, there's a $2.50 tax each way.

If tickets are exactly $250, then you're probably better off flying on a paid ticket and earning miles for your flight.
