True tech-support story
« on: April 16, 2013, 07:38:58 AM »
This is my 2nd encounter with a super-yeshivish kid asking for help installing a printer.  Today's story goes as follows:
I get a call this morning from a bochur asking to help him install his printer to his laptop, I said sure no problem.  Just make sure to bring the laptop as well (from experience, its best if I can confirm everything up and running before they leave - over the phone tech support with these guys is worse then tech support in india).  He asks me if he should bring the usb cable (well, he called it - the plug that goes from the printer to the laptop), and i say yes.  Anyway, he comes over with his laptop and printer.  I download the drivers, transfer to his computer (his computer got it's wlan card removed), and get ready to install.  I ask him for the power cord for the printer, he replies: "Oh, I should have brought that too?"

God bless us.

Ive had worse. I had a guy buy a computer from me, the ones with the power supply that  has an option to connect an extension cable to it, Idk if you've ever seen it but it basically has one stander male connection that we ujse to power the pc, and then one female connecter as a bonus. He called me that his computer doesn't power on. Turns out he connected the power cable from one plug to the other without even connecting the the wall!

Girl in my off site office says her printer stopped working after I installed it. After remote troubleshooting I asked if the usb cable is plugged in and she said NO I thought that was only needed to install the printer.
