I don't think hes not good. I think i said it that way, yes...i don't think he's a great. That's all. All you knick fans love him this yr but what happened to the first, what was it 3 seasons in NY?! He pulled an arod and sucked. You guys would've given him away for free basically. Now that he shoots 35 shots a game and scores 30 points all of a sudden hes a great!!??? Hes amazing?! C'mon be realistic. Hes good but he ain't no great!
Lets take this piece by piece:
- The first 3 seasons in NY, D'antoni's offensive style was not suited for him. D'antoni runs a fast paced offense, Carmelo is an iso player. Additionally, D'antoni didnt figure out how to use Carmelo and Amare well together, especially within the type of offense they were running.
- Pulled an ARod? Not going to respond to this one. Dont think its needed.
- Shoots 35 times a game- Averaging 22 shots a game. Shooting 45%, i will take that. (Top 10 for SFs and would have been top 6 for SGs)
Nobody is saying he is an alltime great yet, but he has carried NY into the playoffs this year and would be curious to see how far he takes them. Leading the league in points at a good FG%, while carrying his team to the #2 team in their division, he deserves consideration as one of the top players of the year.
