LeBron does not want a team built around him. He wants a ready made team. This is his MO.
Agreed that's why he left the first time.

I don't understand why he doesn't play for $500k a year.

You don't understand why someone wouldn't forgo over $20 million per year?

He'd get way way more in endorsements if he actually won a finals in Cleveland.

You're saying he'd get another $20+ million in endorsements on top of the $40+ million he's currently pulling in, just by winning a championship in Cleveland?  ??? That's a pretty huge leap of faith.

I don't think it is. If his 20mil goes towards building the best team ever and he's their leader he will get far more in endorsements for the rest of his life...

He's signing these 1 year deals to make a boatload next contract. So he cares about the contract $. It could be because he doesn't think he'll make more using your strategy or a bit of his ego, but unless he signs the current 1-yr deal at <$20m, he cares about the contract $.

That's purely conjecture which I personally find to be ludicrous. He's already the highest endorsed athlete in sports and will remain that way for a long time, barring another Decision level implosion of his likability. Its difficult to envision a Cleveland championship providing any sort of significant boost at all to his bottom line, let alone a hike of $20 million. Besides, he nearly won it all this year even with his $22 million salary. To say you don't understand why a person doesn't leave over $20 million on the table is Skip Bayless level LeBron nitpicking. Best player in the world should always get paid like it.

Never understood why Dan Gilbert can't wink wink give him an endorsement job at his casino or mortgage business after he retires.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

He is doing this to make more money but more importantly it gives him great leverage on team decisions.

Why would LeBron trust Gilbert? They don't like each other.

Real question is why would Gilbert risk the biggest punishment in sports history.

You can't actually sign any contracts till the moratorium ends, which is tomorrow. Even then, if he agreed to terms, he's still not actually bound until he signs the contract.

who else is hoping aldridge gets cold feet and decides to have meeting with the knicks, realizing hell have a much better shot at getting a ring with carmelo, than with duncan, leonard, parker, green, manu, and pop?
