He is in the league since 03-04 and he averages 25 ppg his fg% is 45.6. Kobe in his career avg 25.5 ppg and fg% if 45.4 and Lebron avg ppg is 27.6 and fg% of 49%..... pretty similar stats.
Similar stats and that is about it. How has he faired against the top teams this year?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

And the argument is if he is a great player or not.

Define great. Same class as Kobe or Lebron, hell no.

No I never said that, but he is a top 5 player in the league IMO.

I define great by stats. They never lie.

I don't think hes not good. I think i said it that way, yes...i don't think he's a great. That's all. All you knick fans love him this yr but what happened to the first, what was it 3 seasons in NY?! He pulled an arod and sucked. You guys would've given him away for free basically. Now that he shoots 35 shots a game and scores 30 points all of a sudden hes a great!!???  Hes amazing?!  C'mon be realistic. Hes good but he ain't no great!

Lets take this piece by piece:
- The first 3 seasons in NY, D'antoni's offensive style was not suited for him. D'antoni runs a fast paced offense, Carmelo is an iso player. Additionally, D'antoni didnt figure out how to use Carmelo and Amare well together, especially within the type of offense they were running.
- Pulled an ARod? Not going to respond to this one. Dont think its needed.
- Shoots 35 times a game- Averaging 22 shots a game. Shooting 45%, i will take that. (Top 10 for SFs and would have been top 6 for SGs)

Nobody is saying he is an alltime great yet, but he has carried NY into the playoffs this year and would be curious to see how far he takes them. Leading the league in points at a good FG%, while carrying his team to the #2 team in their division, he deserves consideration as one of the top players of the year.

You sure about that? How many of MJ’s points were scored against double and triple teams? How many forced shots did he have to take with the shot clock expiring? You need to look a little deeper at the numbers.

I am definitely not comparing anyone to MJ that is a different discussion #greatestplayerever. when a player averages 25ppg and shoots 45% that is a great player.

+100. I think rots5 is stuck in time, Dwight had a horrible year. The nets don't have kid Jefferson or Martin . And if my memory is correct, I think when nets had those 2 runs the east was very weak, hence they got demolished in the finals

Funny... Still as bad as he played I stick by what I said. Last night was just a big disaster.
