guys we should all get motorcycles in israel every frum guy has one we should sell them in lakewood and give them to the rosh yeshivas for free as a promotion!!!!
Funny, that's actually what my signature pic is:
That's my "Tus Tus" for getting around town. Its a 150cc, can hit 60+mph, and gets 70+ miles per gallon. The tank holds about 1.2 gallons, and will get me about 100 miles per tank.
There's no greater feeling than putting 500 miles on a car and then filling the tank to capacity with 9 gallons of gas!
Ha! Try driving around 100 miles for the week, then filling it up with a little over a gallon!
I get so many comments at the gas station, I told the guy I bought it from I should carry his business cards and charge him for advertising.
Seriously, I drive mine to shul or to my old yeshiva, and park right up next to the door on the sidewalk. My Rosh Yeshiva told me he had the urge to just jump on one day, and I've given his kids rides home on it.
At around $1000-$1500 brand new, these things are no-brainers if you do a lot of local driving by yourself.
I wouldn't recommend it on the highway, and although its a two seater and its possible to get a sidecar, I wouldn't recommend taking passengers regularly.
Also, while we're at it... I'm still surprised so many people prefer automatic transmission cars in this day and age of gas shortages. My Nissan (the back of which is pictured there) consistently gets me more miles per gallon and better pickup than any automatic transmission out there (30+ MPG, a full tank of gas gets me ~ 400miles, not that much farther behind a prius, and a heck of a lot cheaper).
Look at Israel where gas was always more expensive- You see "Rebbishe" looking people on mopeds and motorcycles, and small stick-shift efficient cars. Yet, here in the US where we pride ourselves on being lazy, we consider 2-wheeled motorized vehicles to be "goyish" and prefer to drive large gas guzzling SUVs. Some trends defy logic to me...
