Makes no sense that he didn't rebook at another hotel when they downgraded him. Also makes no sense that he didn't switch hotels at checkin.

I agree with you. But there are different personalities in the world & he likes to take the more passive approach which I can understand & I’m sure the persona he wants to keep for his blog plays into that as well, not giving any sense of entitlement, always looking to please etc.
