That's very interesting that ba is the one offering the bonus.
Why do they offer it? What do they gain?

Why would someone pay more for one over the other?

I quote Dan from the main site:

@Joseph:
The value of AMEX MR points will have gone up today due to this bonus and you are probably better off selling them as AMEX points.

Because UK folks will transfer it there without needing incentive.
Same reason DL no longer gives any bonuses after CO left AMEX MR, they're the 800 pound gorilla.

Do people really transfer MR to DL??

(I know they do, but it's so not worth it)

Most people are not DDF'ers/FT'ers.
They're looking for a nice big US airline. What would they know about transferring to BA?

I would think they use the pay with points option or maybe GC or Amex $$

I called a bunch of Brokers yesterday, nobody is budging higher then 1.5
reason : Supply and Demand. ever since January when every second person got the Platnium 100K offer and the business 75K offer for himself and his wife, there are so many MR in the Market so to speak, that Travel agents are not banging down the doors to get them. every shmow blow is calling them to sell sell and sell.

But i did make one boo boo yesterday. i sold MR points at the 1.5 and later i realized that i should've transferred to BA and sold BA points at 1.2 which in the end would have made me a few hundred dollars wealthier.

but some say selling MR points directly rather then transferring is less riskier... whatever..

please comment on the above.
