I didn't even notice he removed it!

Still not...?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

For the last couple of days I have been having intermittent issues connecting to the internet. I am getting DNS error messages such as "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET".

Worth mentioning I am connecting to Optimum Wifi using a BearExtender, which is basically an external network adapter with an extended antenna.

I have tried a number of solutions posted online to no avail.
These include entering ipconfig /release, ipconfig /all, ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /renew, netsh int ip set dns, netsh winsock reset in the command prompt.
Changing to Google's DNS.
Changing to Google's DNS.
Updating device manager.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I friend has suggested the possible explanation for the issue. I have connected to Optimum via the built in network card as well as the Bear Extender network card. Once connected to Optimum with the password I stay logged in via a token. Because I connected to Optimum with both network cards, which have 2 separate MAC address's while using the same ticket, that somehow messed up the connection. Does this make sense?

If so, is there any way to clear the Optimum ticket from my system, so I can start with a blank slate?

I'm not familiar with how it's configured on their end, but it's certainly plausible. To clear your registered devices on optimum, go to https://www.optimum.net/, log in with your ID, under "My profile" click on "My wireless devices". You'll see a list of your saved devices which you can delete.

Eta: I would clear cookies as well

Ooh, good point! I just checked mine from him and it's Toshiba. I guess those are both good options then :)

I wouldn't take that as a recommendation. It could just be that it was the drive that was available or cheap at the time.

IIRC he mentioned then that among the upper companies it's not that much of a difference, but he did have good experience with that, or something along those lines.

I remember someone mentioning that they would avoid a certain company, but don't remember who it was or which company they didn't like.

Seagate is the only big brand I would avoid. In general: look for a good deal on a brand name drive, and check reviews of that specific model on Amazon and Newegg. Even the big companies can have a bad model/batch.
