Doesnt look like this plan is going to work ...
Dropbox Folder Sync which is recommended on the page I linked above just moves the files to dropbox and replaces the original folder with a virtual one which defeats the purpose for me.
I'm looking into boxifier. It claims that it does notmove the files into dropbox, so that you can even syn an external HD that is bigger than the local drive -- seems like exactly what I need.
I don't think that site is correct. Since folder junctions are an internal NTFS construct, i don't think regular programs can tell the difference. Try it with one small folder and see if it works.

@Kayef -- that "pop-up" is because you hovered over the chat icon on the bottom right of the screen

Hi, I'm having issues creating a bootable USB drive to restore windows on a surface pro 4. I downloaded the recovery zip from Microsoft, but every USB drive I put in to my computer and try to copy the files onto it says there isn't sufficient space. The zip file is 5.95 gb, and I've tried with a 16, 32, and 128gb USB drives. I tried formatting them to no avail. I open the USB as a portable driver and then the copying starts, but it stops in middle with the same "insufficient space" message. What can I be doing wrong? Do I have to extract the zip and then copy it? Tia

Online instructions are unclear, but some commenters claim extracting the zip archive first can solve this issue

Yep got it. Just saw your post. I tried that about a half hour ago, extracted the files first on to the USB drive. And the surface pro booted from it. Thanks! Perhaps the zip file was too big to fit into one partition, or maybe the root partition. Unclear, I'll try to figure that out later, after my surface pro is up and running. I got a bit confused bc I booted from usb on Android dozens of times before with no issues. I never extracted the zip before.

If the USB drive was fat32, there would be a max filesize limit of 4gb, so if one of the files you were attempting to copy over was greater then 4gb, it wouldn't work..

Ah that explains it. I was copying the whole zip at once, which was 5.95GB. My experience until now was only with Android devices, which the OS zip was max 1.5GB. Thanks!

That would explain why it didn't work when he tried to copy the zip file (it's one file that's over 4GB)

By default its set to auto-save at preset intervals of time. You should be able to retrieve those versions in the file menu.
