If you can read the hard drive (even not to boot it) you can probably get the key out with ProduKey from Nirsoft http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
I am B"H able to read the old hard drive! For some reason it's not showing any product keys when pointing towards the old hard drive. http://take.ms/CPS7Q

Any ideas why not?

Try to load the registry (the last option in source):
F:\Windows\System32\Config\SOFTWARE

Does anyone here have experience with port forwarding. I'm trying to host a site locally that can be reached from outside of my network. so I added a port forwarding rule to my router that will fwd to my local machine. But I can't get it to work. Any input is appreciated. Thank you

I did port forwarding quite a few times, though never for a website.

Is the site running on a web server on your machine? Which server?

Have you forwarded port 80 TCP?

(BTW, hope you have a static LAN IP for this local machine. Also keep it in mind that your ISP might detect that you're hosting a site and it might not be allowed depending on your plan.)

I'm running it locally on IIS. I'm not forwarding to 80. I'm forwarding to the port that its being hosted, on IIS.
Yes have a static ip.

Does anyone know of specific reasons why a Windows (Win 10 now, but also with win 8 and 8.1) laptop won't go to sleep despite the settings to sleep after X minutes of inactivity? It's been annoying me for years now!

Yes have a static ip.
But you should forward port 80 requests coming to your router to go to your local address. Normal web page requests always come in to port 80.

normal requests only go to port 80 if you don't specify a specific port. However if one requests a specific port it would go to the port requested. For example lets say one requests ip address 14.131.55.178 than it would go to port 80, however if one requests 14.131.55.178:1234 then the computer should forward the request to port 1234
