They use Hotspot Shield IINM. And they only give you a certain amount of free usage per day.

Hotspot shield was recently cought with privacy concerns, but since they're a brand I'd not suspect them with anything more than simple monetization of user information.
Kaspersky or AVG?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Seems like a pretty new story.
9to5Mac Aug 7
At least "Hotspot shield" is not actually their product. Like this I'm not concerned about their Security software that I use.

Are you booting off a USB drive to recovery environment? If yes try to remove the USB for the PC when you are at the step of finding the image to restore from.

No-I'm booting from advanced startup options. (Though it originally was giving me a error saying something along the lines that since it had to format the Hd to the pc it needs to be booted from a usb...)

Kaspersky
Downloaded the free version and the computer grinded litterly to a standstill.
Deleted and we're good again

Tried again after reseting  the pc and got this message "The system image restore failed. Error details: A device attached to the system is not functioning (0x8007001F)"

Why are you doing the restore?

Do you have any Disk Cloning or Virtual Disk programs installed?

I recently did a fresh Windows installation...I usually have a monitor attached to my laptop and for some reason the size of everything on the monitor only calibrates properly if the lid on the laptop is shut...Any clue how to fix that? Thanks.

You might need a driver (for graphics card or monitor) installation, but it is really hard to say exactly what without seeing the PC and all that's going on.

I'm not sure yet what the problem is, but be aware that a Windows System Image is not meant to load to a different PC. It might work at times but it might also make problems (even if you can get it onto it.)

Do you still have your old PC?

A fresh install by definition does not have manufacturer specific drivers (sometimes Windows Updates can get it, but not all the time.)
