I was looking at this Wirecutter article on digital privacy and they recommended Privacy Badger, in addition to uBlock Origin which I am already using. Curious if anyone here has experience with Privacy Badger and what it does that Ublock doesn't...?
No personal experience but this is from their site:
Quote
uBlock Origin is an excellent privacy tool. uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger should work well together. Similar to adblockers, uBlock Origin protects using blacklists. Privacy Badger protects by automatically learning about trackers as you browse, which means Privacy Badger might catch things that uBlock Origin doesn't know about. Privacy Badger will learn about far fewer trackers when used together with uBlock Origin, but that's OK.

thanks! What do you use?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I use just uBlock Origin.

Personally, I'm not that eager to protect my privacy (in the sense if tracking), so I might not be the right person to ask...

Never heard of it.  I use uBlock Origin with Nano Defender.  It's less about privacy and more about making my browsing experience less painful.
Either way, anything from EFF is good.

I have a MSI Laptop with external HP screen.
Lately, my HP screen doesn't turn on when my laptop is on. I updated my NVIDIA card driver and nothing seems to help.
Both my Intel and Nvidia icons in my Device Manager are always with a triangle.
I had someone who tried to enable/disable the drives, uninstall and reinstall and nothing works..

Any idea?

Thanks

Not much to help without taking a look on the device and all errors etc. But 1) what does the Device Manager have under Monitors? 2) Have you uninstalled and pressed Delete in the uninstall dialog? 3) Have you reinstalled from the manufacturer's website?

1) It has Generic PnP Monitor
2) I had someone from Fiverr try to fix it and he unistalled and reinstalled it. it didn't help.

Indeed, uninstalling both of them completely (Delete) and then reinstalling from the manufacturer's site did the trick.

I know you can export bookmarks from Chome on one computer to another. Can you do the same for browsing history? I get that syncing would be easier, but not so comfortable giving Google all that data.
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

pretty sure if you log in to chrome on multiple computers, your history will sync.

If you're already using chrome I would hope you're comfortable giving your data to google...

I'm not logged in. Seems like many people think that is a significant escalation of google snooping. There was a big uproar when google started automatically logging chrome users in once they used one of the many Google services.  https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/07/chrome-privacy-security-changes/

Don’t worry, Google knows anyway everything from Google analytics.

Anyone know if you can add user info from one chrome to another and then unsync, delete info from google and retain info on both?

I think if you sync and then change your google password, the other computer will keep the data but not be synced. Otherwise I'm not sure what happens if you log out and then delete via another computer, I don't know if the computer will keep your info.

Here's an interesting one:

When I download a word attachment form gmail and then open it, certain full size windows have about a 1inch whitespace along the bottom and the only way to get rid of it is to sign out of windows (or restart obviously). BUT, if I don't make the window full screen I get my full window back and then I can stretch it accordingly.

I'll show you:
I just opened a word doc that was attached and this is the bottom of my firefox window:

Now, I took it off full screen and it's aback to normal:

At first, I thought it was a chrome issue but it also happens in firefox and then I thought it was isolated to browsers but I also have it with adobe:
This is adobe in full screen:

And this is adobe not full screen:

Finally, another piece to the puzzle is the whitespace only occurs on the monitor that I open the word doc. I have 2 monitors and if I place the doc on monitor 1 and open it the whitespace appears on monitor 1 and monitor 2 continues to function as normal with all fullsize windows being fine. if I place it on monitor 2 then the whitespace appears on monitor 2 and monitor 1 continues to function as normal with all full size windows being fine. Plus, my primary monitor is 1 but that doesn't appear to have any significance since then problem occurs on both.

Now, this might happen in more then just gmail but that's the only email that I receive attachments in and I'm too lazy to see if it happens with other email clients because again, I only use gmail and I've learned to now expect the whitespace and then I just take it off fullscreen and drag the window size.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I just got a new laptop and when I open a new tab in chrome I don't see the up to ten recently visited or customized shortcuts like I do on my old older computer. Any clue how to get it back? Thanks.
