Yes there is a light on the power cord and the laptop is getting power from the cord. Just the battery isnt charging.

Look through this thread
https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General-Read-Only/Battery-plugged-in-not-charging/td-p/3929408
Thanks for your help. The thread advises that I download the BIOS file... In order to do that you need at least 10% battery power. and I only have 2%. so thats not an option. I did a reset on my computer. and also bought anew a/c adapter. I still have the issue. the battery isnt charging. What are my other options? Thanks again.

I'm assuming it's not under warranty or extended warranty via CC?

What if you take out the battery and just use it plugged in? Will it work and will it let you update the bios?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Yeah.

Did you check your BIOS firmware version to see if it's the latest? If it is then I'd assume there's no real point in updating (but can't hurt perhaps).

Perhaps try resetting your bios to factory defaults.

My dell Inspiron isnt charging the battery. When plugged in its working off the A/c adapter but the battery doesnt get charged.
When I reboot i get a message that the adapter is not recognized.
I am using the original adapter.
Also, Not sure if this is connected but my computer is working like a snail.
Thanks!
Did you try a new battery?

No. Do you think that would do it?
