If your computer or phone is giving you issues:

• Please read this before posting: 4 Reasons Why IT People Ignore Your Requests for Help
• Restart the computer. Hopefully this will take care of any issues
• If your problem has not yet been solved, try to Google it. There may be a very simple solution
• On a Windows computer, a system restore may do the trick.

Not sure what you mean by how did it happen. I don't know if this makes sense but it seems like somehow the file is inherently in a loop. The conversion timing status on VLC keeps on starting again after what I think is the completed length of the audio. I think that this is the same reason the original files are so big. Not sure if this makes any sense.

To illustrate I just stopped the conversion but the new file is for almost 45 hours and has the recording on a loop.

Yes google can be your friend but all the online services have a max size that this surpasses. Can it be done without downloading another program? No way for windows player or VLC to trim an MP3?

Did you try googling "vlc trim audio"?
I don't believe Audacity has any such limit. It's open source.

Audacity isn't an online service, so there are no limits. IIRC you need to download something extra to work with mp3 files (unless something changed in the last few years)

Yeah, it was due to a patent. From the Audacity 2.3.2 release notes:

My windows 10 computer doesn't fall asleep after the designated amount of time of inactivity.

It turns the screen off but doesn't go to sleep. I don't recall when it started or if there were any changes made to it recently. It's a family computer so it's the wild west on there.

I closed all programs and it still doesn't help.

I have a similar problem, my laptop also doesn't go to sleep if I put it to sleep. So even when I think it's sleeping, when I turn it back on it has zero battery.

Seems to be a new-ish problem, like in the last month or two. But the funny thing is that a few years ago when I upgraded a different laptop from Win 8 to 10 it had the same exact problem, and I was never able to figure out how to fix it.

How can I tell if the USB C port on my laptop works to charge the laptop, or if it's only to connect other devices to it? I plugged in a charger and got message that the laptop is not charging, and I don't know if it's because of the computer or if it just doesn't like this cable (which came with a cell phone).

Generally speaking a laptop which supports usb c charging needs at least 45 watts, so a standard phone cable won't do. Which laptop have you got?
