In a way this is different than music where I would have no issues copying it if I already bought it.
I thought of that but I think it's different. In my view, the entire value of a CD is the music. The music is sold with the agreement that you won't copy it, and both the seller and the buyer understand that during the sale. With MP3 players, although the software surely cost them money to develop, it's not what they have in mind when they sell it and it's not what you have in mind when you buy it. And although you obviously can't just rip it and sell it to a wide audience, it's very likely that there was no halachic restrictions on copying software incorporated in a sale when you bought it, because all the daas is on the device.

It may however be a question for a LOR.

If you still have the broken one maybe you can just take it apart and transfer the internals.
I was thinking of doing that, but I'm not sure I'm savvy enough to do that without breaking anything

I can't even figure out how to get the piece open. It looks completely sealed all around, with no place to put anything in. Maybe I have to melt glue before I open it?

Why do you think it costs almost triple?

Why do you think it costs almost triple?
Most things sold exclusively to a Jewish market cost more. Unfortunately, many Jews are paying more because they don't price check, but they just walk into the local shop and pay the asking price, when it's often half-price for the same item on Amazon.

But even if it clearly costs more only because of the software, I still think you may be allowed to copy it. Why can't I copy software that I purchased? By music, since the entire Daas was on the music, and it's explicitly expressed that you can't copy it, that makes halachic restrictions. But here, the parties don't have that in mind when they sell it.

But yes, AYLOR. And if someone has a way for me to flash it, I will AMLOR.

Is there a way for me to copy the software from one MP3 player and flash it onto another?

I've bought a few Samvix Dynamite Kosher MP3 players over the last two years for about $60 or $70 a piece. I like them a lot, but with the intense usage my kids put them through, they usually break after just a few months. (Due to overuse or misuse.) I found an identical device that does not contain Kosher software (it has a radio and picture abilities) for $25 and I was wondering if I can clone the Kosher software off the Samvix and 'kosherfy' the other device.

Any insights?

(Not-as-good alternate would be to just break the FM receiver, but not sure exactly how to find that on the circuit board...)
Not sure about your question, but what made you decide that those two are identical? They don't look the same at all (they might be from the same supplier, but not the same base model.) They do not have the same storage size, the buttons are not on the same side, the back and menu touch buttons are flipped.

@YitzyS this one looks much more like it.

But I don’t have answers for your flashing question.

ETA: maybe buy 1 and try some of the programs from this (or Google for similar) list.

I got it and it looks and feels exactly the same. The buttons are just dependent of the software, which can be set up in any way. The devices are just printed differently, which they are anyways because of the unique brands. And the storage IINM is the same also - the cheap one includes a micro SD card to bring the storage up to the advertised amount.

It's likely that all three were made in the same Chinese factory

There is a useful chrome extension called right click which allows right click to save when it's not a option. I'm wondering if that tool can help.

Good to know I'll switch over then
Quick update on my screen issue, updating the drivers didn't help anything.
I went ahead switched my screen from 160hz to 60hz and have had an issue since. It's really strange and kind of annoying.

I'm trying to do a clean install of windows 11 using RAID 1.

I made a USB boot device using the tool in this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

The problem is the USB isn't recognized. It's a standard USB flash drive. It was blank I don't think anything was special about it.

I think the issue is it needs some sort of driver for RAID storage

Here's some other pictures I took

What do you mean the USB isn't recognized? The USB is booted, and you have the installation screen (which is from the USB.)

If something, your issue is that the storage drive/s (on which you plan installing Windows) isn't/aren't recognized. Right?

As the selected Raid option in your screenshot says you'd need the Intel RST drivers for this.

See here step-by-step instructions for getting downloading those drivers and getting it ready for loading from the boot USB https://superuser.com/a/1782146/368970

I wasn't able to right click and open a terminal so CD'd into the downloads folder and I ran this
Code: [Select]
SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted without the ./ because it wouldn't work with it. It seemed to work since I got a new folder with files in it.

Anyways I don't know what a driver file is. Here are some files/folders that I have

Anyways I don't know what a driver file is. Here are some files/folders that I have

Copy the whole SetupRST_extracted folder onto the flash drive (with the Windows installer.)

After booting from the USB and clicking Load Driver in the install windows select the Drivers folder (SetupRST_extracted\production\Windows10-x64\15063\Drivers) and press OK, it should give you a list of drivers and the one two select would be the one in the RAID folder (SetupRST_extracted\production\Windows10-x64\15063\Drivers\RAID\iaStorAC.inf).
