Optiplex to inspiron
You can try and see if it works, ive done Inspiron to optiplex and then downloaded all missing drivers from dell
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Curious, did you first strip out the old drivers?

Should work, make sure the bios setting are the same. Many inspirons are 8 or above and have secure boot enabled

I just got a brand new desktop and good monitor, with nvidia geforce card... and the display is blurry. I'm very upset. It's set to 1920x1080 which is the highest and also recommended... i updated the nvidia driver... any ideas?

Try the monitor with another system to rule out defective monitor.

Even if I call up dell?
Oem licensing is for that specific machine and may not be moved, in Windows 7 you would be able to swap it if it's the same manufacturer, but not in Windows 10

Aha They both are Dell but one is/was win 7 pro other Win 10 home
If I buy an upgrade on the Home one can I use the key on any computer?

No it's not transferable.
On Windows 7 it was easy to transfer even though officially they don't let, with Windows 10 you can't transfer

Ok let me explain. I cloned my win 7/10 (upgraded) and I have my old computer still running. The new computer came with windows 10 home and I need the pro but I don't want to start from scratch.
Can I upgrade the home and use the key for the cloned drive (its in the same computer)

So you want to pay to upgrade the home computer and then put the cloned drive in instead? That will work because once you upgrade, the hardware (motherboard etc.) will be registered with Microsoft as pro

Using Windows 10. Out of the blue my internet stopped working. When I click on troubleshoot I get  message "wifi doesn't have a valid ip configuration". I tried connecting to a different network to no avail. Interestingly in wifi settings it shows I'm connected to the network...Any suggestions?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.
