I transfered the license key from an old Win7 computer to a new one that I downgraded from Win10 to Win7. It worked fine for about a month, and now it's telling me that "Optional delivery update is not working". I go online and try to validate it, but it says validation failed.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Any way to get back the Windows 8 License Key from a computer that was fully formatted (all partitions deleted)?

No, Windows can't find it since its usually stored on the Recovery Partition.
There's no sticker or anything on the computer.
Computer is a Dell XPS 8500.
Computer was purchased by me back in 2012 from Dell.

If you have your Dell Service TAG, they should have the License Key on file.

When does that error message pop up? You may have optional updates disabled in Updates. Or your WiFi connection may be set as a Metered Connection - thereby dissalowing optional updates.

Every so often - it seems to be related to windows updates.

It's actually stored in the hardware and is still there

I used Macrium to clone a Windows 7 64-bit HDD to an external HDD. I then cloned the OS partition to a dynamic VHD and tried booting it with VirtualBox, but I got a error that it can't find a bootable medium.

I tried following the instructions here:
http://superuser.com/questions/749460/steps-to-make-native-boot-vhd-boot-in-virtual-box
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd799299%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

However, I'm still getting the same error. What am I missing?

I would suggest turning off UEFI boot, or the opposite.

Also see:

And play with:

Tried looking at all information associated with my Service Tag and can't find it. Is there a specific place to look?

This shows me the Windows 8 license key I used to install Windows (generic key I found online).

Was trying to avoid that. Not a big fan of Dell tech support.

Show MSDM key.

If not with that tool, use http://rweverything.com/downloads/RwPortableX64V1.6.8.1.zip  (or 32 bit - http://rweverything.com/downloads/RwPortableV1.6.8.1.zip )

ACPI -> MSDM

Hi, I don't know where to post this so I'll try here: What makes Dan decide to post this laptop: http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/82982 when there are other laptops on sale?

I'm looking to buy a good laptop and was looking at this one too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Yoga-12-Ultrabook-Intel-Core-i3-4GB-RAM-500GB-HDD-Win8Pro-Win10-Upgrade/301789341354?hash=item46440be6aa

How do they compare? Any recommendation/ideas would be appreciated :)
If you are trying to get my attention/assistance and I'm not responding, please feel free to PM me. :)
