Have you installed ram recently? Also is this a desktop or laptop windows Vista or 7
Haven't installed anything, laptop running on windows 7.

ETA now my wife is telling me that the laptop fell down earlier but it was still working afterwards, it later froze so she powered it off and then is when the problems began.

Likely that the fall damaged the hard drive

Boot from CD or USB, back up what you need, then run chkdsk /r or your computer manufacturer's or hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic utility to scan the hard drive for damage.

My BILs laptop stopped turning on a few days ago.
He sent it into a fixing store and they said the motherboard is dead.
So he just bought a new computer and the guy is trying to copy over from the hard drive all his (extremely) important stuff and his saying the hard drive is dead.
Does this make any sense? Something seems to me very wrong.
Any ideas?
And while we at it can anyone recommend someone professional in Lakewood that he should take it to?

Anyway to replicate a PC screen to a TV screen + mouse control?

Chromecast should probably work for the replication part but how would I connect a mouse?

Can't you just connect a wireless mouse to the PC?

The bottom charger is the original. Will the top one work for it?

I also need a new charger, what do I need to look for when getting a new one? What needs to match?

For Dell I have found oem on Amazon for about $20.

I would not buy an off-brand laptop charger, it's not worth the risk of frying your laptop
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Good to know,
But can I get any charger for any laptop or every laptop needs a charger with matching specs (voltage etc)?

Anyway to determine if that's indeed the case?

Check the specs, for Dell I never had any issues, just make sure it has the correct connection.
