Backspace stopped working to go back to precious page in Chrome. According to  this engaget article the change was to avoid pressing backspace thinking your in an online form and losing all entry data.
Any way to change back?
There's an extension that restores it. GIYF.

Reinstall it and only install the file shield
IME, you don't need to reinstall Avast to disable web shield. Just disable it in the options.

You can use Avast free forever, if you give them your email address.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I was using it forever. Problem was it kept restarting my comp, and giving me endless tzaros, so I just deleted it

That's caused by a conflict between K9 and the Avast Web shield. If your disable the web shield, it should be fine. I've never had an issue.
But AVG is fine too.

Ah...that was the issue. Thanks. If I reinstall it I'll just disable the web shield.

FWIW I had issues with AVG and K9 running together. That was years ago, though.

Just curious - what made you leave Avast?

Getting too bloaty.  Install size was massive (now its about 220mb).  Installing add-ons without permission.  Just read through the forums these days:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=189131.0

Once I see the a/v is focusing more on the less important stuff, I feel uncomfortable

Interesting, I thought just installing file shield saved you from those problems. But I hear your point.

Does Eset have a forever free version?

Didn't want to start a separate thread do sorry if a bit off topic...On Amazon I keep a bunch of stuff in my cart to watch for changes in price...when I open page I often get message that x number of item in my cart have changed price...there is yellow box to click on to show changes, but it never shows them...If I click on cart sometimes it will show change, sometimes it will not...whats going on?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Don't know. I always use Chrome. I use Ublock, but if that was it it wouldn't work sometimes and not work other time...?
