I had someone reapply the thermal paste, and it worked nicely for a couple days as long as I didn't use it for too long in a row (then it started getting hot). Now it's been making a loud buzzing noise again.

Any idea what it could be? And is it safe to use despite the noise?

TY
it's probably a fan or hdd, you can try opening up the tower and listening to where the noise is coming from
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I already answered what it could be. Now it's up to you to narrow it down, and I told you how.

You can also test your power supply on its own if it's a standard ATX power supply. Disconnect all the cables coming out of the power supply from the motherboard, drives, or whatever they're connected to, remembering where each cable goes so you could put it back later. Then follow instruction from a site such as https://www.techpowerup.com/articles/other/22 or http://www.ehow.com/how_4928308_make-power-supply-work-motherboard.html to turn on the power supply. If you hear the noise then, it must be coming from the power supply, so you should replace it.
Sometimes the speaker is on the motherboard. It's a small component that could be less than half an inch in diameter. Here's an example.

it's probably a fan or hdd, you can try opening up the tower and listening to where the noise is coming from
It sounds like it's coming from the power supply, or the fan that's attached to it. I tried unplugging it but it didn't come when I pulled and I was afraid to yank.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Here it is.
Thanks for your help.
Were there any changes, such as new programs/updates installed, immediately before this error occurred for the first time? If yes, reinstall the offending program. If not, try uninstalling all versions of Microsoft .Net Framework, and then reinstalling the latest version from Microsoft. If that doesn't work (and you're tech savvy  :) ) try the following:
IMPORTANT: Understand the consequences and backup your registry before making changes.
1. Run "regedit.exe"
2. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfProc\Performance"
3. Ensure if you have a DWORD entry named "Disable Performance Counters" that if it was set to 1, that it is properly set to 0 (zero).
4. Reboot

I'm not sure what "it" refers to; there are several different types of connectors coming out of power supplies.
  • SATA power cables that connect to hard drives and CD/DVD drives sometimes have a clip that you have to press to release in order to unplug it.
  • The 24 pin, 20 pin, 8 pin, 6 pin and 4 pin connectors that connect to the motherboard have a release clip in the middle of one side. When you squeeze the clip against the plug at the point furthest from the motherboard, it causes the part of the clip closest to the motherboard to swing away from the plug and the protrusion that was locking it in place, allowing you to pull the connector straight out.

Backspace stopped working to go back to precious page in Chrome. According to  this engaget article the change was to avoid pressing backspace thinking your in an online form and losing all entry data.
Any way to change back?

3.0 should be blue.

3.0 should be blue.
Sometimes the inside is blue, otherwise it should say ss next to the port (ss= Super speed

If you have a dedicated graphics card,  it could be the fan going on that..  Or your computer might just need a good dust cleaning

I deleted iPhone and setup from backup. Now when I try to sync the music I get msg that it is synced with a different library on C. I tried pressing shift when opening iTunes and selecting from older libraries folder but still get same error...Any clue?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Some DDF pages just don't load for me. I get the following message:

"The forums.dansdeals.com page isn’t working

forums.dansdeals.com didn’t send any data.
ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE"

Any clue?

No. I get it randomly. Often even within same thread but different pages...?
