In order for Samsung magician to recognize my ssd it needs to be installed in my laptop (I'd  like to avoid the hassle) it won't recognize it if I just connect it via cable.
Then I'd go the simple route...just go into Disk Management and delete one partitions and format it afterwards.

You don't need Magician; you need the Secure Erase utility. If Secure Erase requires the drive to be inside, you could boot from a CD. If the display is unreadable when you run the utility, exit and then run it again with /s after the command, as follows:
segui0.exe /s

Sometimes it says that the drive is in a frozen state and prompts you to unplug the power cable while leaving the SATA data cable connected. That might not be possible on many laptop models.

Yes, but you would have to do the full format rather than quick format, and that takes time. Secure Erase happens in seconds, assuming you can get it to work.

Attach SSD via USB.  Open command prompt (as admin).  Enter the following commands (not including the ""):

1. "diskpart" (hit enter)
2. "list disk" (hit enter)
3. you will see a list of all connected drives. after determining which one is the ssd, type:
4. "select disk 1" (replace 1 with the ssd disk number)
5. "clean" (hit enter)
6. "exit" (hit enter)

Done.

However, your stuff will be easily recoverable - so if you're worried about that, you'd need to do a more "secure" wipe.

Full format won't securely wipe an ssd
And it wears out the drive for no reason.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I've done some research into securely wiping ssds (or any flash memory), my understanding is that if you delete everything on the ssd and leave it plugged in, trim will take care of it all.

Trim will run even without writing any new data?

My understanding is that it will work to free up all the partially written blocks whenever the drive is not in use.

I agree that it wears it out for no reason. But if full formatting writes zeros to every sector, how would you ever recover anything after that?

Due to the way an ssd works, (unlike an hdd) in order to wear every sector evenly it decides where to write the data so there is no way to systematically write to   every single byte without a custom software from the manufacturer

Yes:
Quote
Removes any and all partition or volume formatting from the disk with focus. On master boot record (MBR) disks, only the MBR partitioning information and hidden sector information are overwritten. On GUID partition table (GPT) disks, the GPT partitioning information, including the Protective MBR, is overwritten; there is no hidden sector information.

You can also tell it to actual write data to "zero" each sector with "clean all".

Why do I sometimes have trouble loading pages in Chrome, but never on secure sites (banks, etc.)?
check if you have the same trouble in IE,
http://www.httpvshttps.com/
What that page actually does is compare HTTP to SPDY.
Thanks for replying. For some reason, your reply slipped by me, and I just noticed it now.
I checked, and secure is much faster, according to this test. I also set up a new Chrome profile, and I'll use it when I run into trouble, and we'll see if it's any better. Any other suggestions are welcome.

What's the easiest way to clone a SSD to a HDD? With Samsung migration I can only clone a HDD to a SDD.

You didn't say cheapest. If the HDD destination is at least as large as the source SSD, a dual hard drive dock with a clone button is easiest and extremely fast.

My laptop stopped connecting to Wi-Fi. I tried both at home and at work. I tried the troubleshooter and it says Wi-Fi does not have valid IP configuration. How can I fix that?

This just happened to me, this is how I fixed it:
Quote
a. Press Windows key + X and select “command prompt (admin)”.
b. Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.
c. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
d. Type Exit and hit Enter.

Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.
