Can you first check to make sure that you aren't connected or haven't created a Homegroup? In Control Panel > Homegroup what does it say?
[[and so are my whole bunch of windows computers...]]
"This computer can't connect to a homegroup"
"! To create a homegroup ...."
This is a really basic computer I bought for my wife and kids to share for generic purposes. Google accounts, google docs, word/excel once in a while. Nothing fancy, except perhaps a dropbox account. No networked drives here, didn't even make my iTunes stuff networked yet. Took it out of the box, created logins, upgraded to 8.1 and then a few months ago upgraded to 10. Also nothing at all connected to it, it is standalone, no USB devices except mouse (a standard Microsoft usb mouse), we use the internal keyboard and screen. The brand is Toshiba Satellite.
Just now when I went to check the homegroup thing, the lid was shut, but it was still running (can tell by the LEDs and hear it sometimes).
