I opened up a brand new Kingston SSD, and found a Seagate drive inside the box. Is that normal?

Well how can that be normal?...It is like buying an iPhone and getting in the box a Galaxy...

Haha...

It wasn't bought on my amazon account, someone bought it for me. Not sure if there's a point.

Anyways, I just went back to the order email, and it turns out (as I had thought I remembered) that I ordered a Crucial!

ETA: it gets stranger still...

I ordered a crucial 275gb. Box says Kingston 120gb. Drive says Seagate 750gb. Maybe I shouldn't complain...?!

Hard drive or ssd?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Good point! I ordered SSD, box says SSD, drive doesn't specify. It says Momentus 750GB.

Does it at 5400rpm or 7200rpm?

It is a HDD, so it is not what you want and paid for! Got a refund from Amazon.

It doesn't say either. On bottom in tiny letters it says HDD MFG by Seagate Technology. Does that mean it's a HDD and not an SSD?

Wow, I'll contact them and see what they say! It was more than 30 days ago, hope that's not an issue.

Just finished chatting, they are sending me a new one and sent me a return label for this one, and a $5 credit for the hassle.

Considering the sheer queerness of the story, I'd check to see if there's any data on the drive from previous use. Maybe it's from the DNC. Or perhaps KGB files.

Is that a good upgrade?
All it's missing is "*256 SSD". Seems like a good deal.

Should I get it?
I got this laptop today, and it's slower that my Toshiba i3.

And the HP AMD is OOS.

Strange, but is that in all things or something specific that you observe slowness?

When I was downloading programs, the word documents wouldn't close. And the whole File Explorer wouldn't work.
Also the edge of the laptop where you put your hand when you use the mouse pad is very sharp and annoying. And the clickers on the mouse pad need a lot of pressure applied to them, which is uncomfortable.

In my line of work I buy and setup new machines both desktops and laptops very, very often. Honestly, I have to say that with the onset of win 10 I've seen brand new hot off the press machines with insanely good specs come to a crawl on the first 24 - 36 hours or so. After seeing it so many times on all different vendors I've come to simply accept it as a reality with any new machine I buy these days. Lately, I boot it up and after going through the initial q/a and make sure you're very careful with those questions and settings, simply clicking through will open up your machine [indirectly] to big brother which is exactly what ms wants you to do but I digress... after I go through those q's I let it "marinate" overnight so that windows can acquaint itself with its new home and download the tons of inevitable updates etc...

So, in your case since it is a brand new win 10 machine I would give it some time to level out. Trust me on this, I've told it to a number of folks already and they all thought I was nuts but a couple of days later they said, hey, you're right :-)

As far as the physical annoyances..not really sure  :D

Let me know how it goes.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.
