The only product I found still on my system was WebAdvisor, but I downloaded and went through the uninstall tool just in case. I'd be rather perplexed if that was the issue, but I guess I'll wait and see. Thanks for your help.
Update: It wasn't that. :( Any other ideas?

Thanks
Two questions.
-What is the exact message/error you get when trying to create the new profile with Realname? (I'm assuming that by "new profile" you mean new user account. Correct?)
-Is the exact Realname so important to you that you can't just do something almost same and save all the headache?

I cannot think of anything that would be something to cause it.

You can try running a few days in Clean Boot to see if it is third-party stuff that causes it. Instruction on how to do a Clean Boot can be found here https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/41804-clean-boot-perform-windows-10-troubleshoot-software-conflicts.html

Update the wireless card driver
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I've been having the strangest computer issue for the past few months, and I've scoured the internet for a solution with no success, so I figure I might as well try here. Basically, every so often my computer (an approximately year-old Asus) disconnects from whichever network it's connected to, and will not reconnect until I restart it. (This has typically been about once or twice a day, but sometimes as often as every 15 minutes for a few hours or as infrequent as once in a week. I've been unable to discover any particular trigger for it.) It's happened on many different networks and no other devices are affected, so it's not a network issue, and I have yet to find any other way to reconnect other than restarting. I've done virus scans, re-installed drivers, etc. to no avail. If anyone else has had this issue and/or knows of a possible cause/fix, I'd greatly appreciate to hear.

There is a problem with windows 10 connections. It has something to do with it confusing ip addresses amongst other things. I spoke to microsoft today about this issue and they said that they will be coming out with an update for this some time in the near future.

First, use this script to get rid of defaultuser0:
(copy to notepad and save text as a .cmd file, then run it as admin)

1) Yes, a new user account. For some reason now I'm not getting as far as I was before.

When I click "I don't have this person's sign in info"

The next "page" never loads:

2) Pretty important, or i wouldn't bother with all this

Thanks!

1) Yes, a new user account. For some reason now I'm not getting as far as I was before.
So now we have a new problem...

Try adding a user with the method below:
  • Press Windows key + R
  • Type control userpasswords2 and click OK
  • Click on add under users tab
  • Click the option, "Sign-in without a Microsoft account"
  • Click on Local account
  • Choose a name for the account
  • Add password if want to
  • Apply and click OK.

And user was added Realname?
yes! In the list when I added it, it then showed me 2 users: realname, and realname_2.

In C:\Users, all I see is fakename and Public. Do I have to log into that new account for it to make a User folder?

You say in the list at control userpasswords2 you only saw realname (before adding the new account)? If so go back to that list and try to change the username there from Realname to Fakename. Then (after reboot) create a new account (using this method) called Realname.

Correct! Trying that now. The funny thing is that after rebooting I only see one account in the list, called fakename.

Okay, this is weird. I'm looking at that users dialog box, and when I click the Add button nothing happens!

I logged in as fakename (the original account) and was able to add a new account called realname. However, when I log off I don't see the option to log in with that new account.
