If i can get the Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-5718SLV for 320ish$ is it worth it? Is it a decent machine?
If i have a extra SSD (-SATA III) can i (easily) install it either as a replacement drive or additional one?

It is old so it is hard to recommend (for instance, that 4th gen i5 is way worse than a current gen i3).

You can install an SSD, but there are no two slots, so it makes it a bit harder to replace as well (because you can't have both hard drives simultaneously and clone and run right away)

Connect it to the usb port

HP 500-214
Windows 10
Blue screen of death.
Can get to troubleshooting and recovery with F11.
None of the repair options work.
Want to try and save the individuals data if a can.
Going to try putting it in a external hard drive bay and connect via USB.
If the hard drive is not corrupt will I be able to read the files?
I just found a new supply of forks!

What is the error message/code?

Can't remember. Something like 0ec00000x3. They looked it up and found a few YouTube videos. They tried what was suggested from the command prompt.

Was there any sort of massage along with the error code?

I have an i7-3820 3.60GHZ with 12 GB RAM running windows 10 home
I purchased it 5 years ago, and it has served me well. Having two issues -
1) On occasion when I'm being graphics intensive, the screen flickers. Monitor is a 27" HP
2) Startup was always slow, but the last week or so it's been running slow generally, and I don't know why.
My inclination is to pop an SSD into one of the drawers on the front of the computer, I've got two of them. Is that the way to go? Any particular SSD?

1) Can be one of many issues. Graphics card, graphics driver, perhaps even the monitor.
2) Run a full AV scan. SSDs are basically a guaranteed huge speed boost. Samsung's are solid

Just remembered that I had cloned my old windows 7 laptop to an SSD, which is still sitting in there. Should I stick it in my desktop, reformat and reclone? or is there some value in having two OS's on one computer and run both?

Not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that you don't use the laptop anymore?

Right
No benefit of having 2 OSes. You can clone your current desktop hard drive to the SSD and then set your computer to boot from the SSD. Once you verify that it's working properly, you can format the old hard drive and use it for stuff that you don't want to put on the SSD (photos videos etc)
