how can i put the battery symbol (to see how much juice is left) on the bottom right hand corner of my screen ?
used to be there but disappeared recently
Click the up arrow next to those icons. Do you see the battery one? If yes, drag it over next to the ones that always show.

Printer problem:
I have a Brother HL-3170CDW that's printing with shaggy (for lack of a better term) lines of toner that are not sticking to the paper. It happens consistently in the same place on every paper, all the way down the paper. I cleaned all easily removable parts with a dry cloth. From the research I've done it seems like it might be a problem with the fuser- does that sound right? Anything I can do myself? Thanks for any help.

Look at the drum, odds are you will notice something on the same place that the line appears on the papers. If you do see something there, replace the drum, it's cheaper then a fuser. If not, look at the fuser and see if there's something noticeable
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I have tons of pictures on my computer and many of them are duplicates. Any recommendation for software that can help me delete the duplicates even if they have different file names?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Thanks.

Anyone use a password manager and only store info locally? I have read that some security experts are into that...

Looking for some advice here.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad that is having problems sometimes the when I plug it in it recognizes the charger and charges just fine and sometimes it does not. I already paid like $150 to get a similar problem fixed like 4 months ago.
I really need this computer to work but its not really broken yet.
I am in Israel and I know someone coming soon.
Question is do I get a new computer like the Vostro on Sale, or do I get a cheap $100 Chromebook to hold me over and wait till it actually breaks ( which can be tomorrow or in 2 years)?

I use Malwarebytes and a few days ago it was getting stuck at "check for updates". I figured I'll just remove the program and redownload and install. That worked for a day and two but I am now having the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Nice.  Strange.  Does it get stuck at updates when trying to update directly, ore pre-scan?
Both

Do 3.5" hard drive enclosures (eg: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GAML7OK/ref=psdc_160354011_t2_B01MZC303G?tag=cl03f-20) always require plugging in to a power source?

Yes, 3.5" hard drives uses 12V and USB is only 5V.

When trying to access any office programs (excel, word, etc) I get an error message with error code 0xc0000142.

I tried a few of the fixes suggested by various sites that came up when I googled/youtubed the problem, but I can't seem to resolve it.

Can anyone guide me to site that has a good troubleshooter for this problem?

I'm running windows 10.

Thanks

I was looking at this Wirecutter article on digital privacy and they recommended Privacy Badger, in addition to uBlock Origin which I am already using. Curious if anyone here has experience with Privacy Badger and what it does that Ublock doesn't...?
