I have a laptop with an SSD. Lately, "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" is giving me an error:
PCIe SSD on Controller 13, Port0: Offline

It seems that it's a partition of the SSD, but not the main one. Do I need to worry about this? (Laptop is within warranty so if there's something wrong I'd like to get it fixed)

Screenshot:

TIA!

I'm not directly answering your question but warranty doesn't imply that your data is covered

My data is backed up so I'm not worried about that. But if something inside the laptop is going, I want them to replace it. This is the same laptop that makes a chirping noise intermittently, since I got it (I posted about this a few months ago). I sent it back to Dell twice and both times they replaced the main logic board but it didn't make any difference.

Is it similar to this?

Quote
As an initial clarification the 13GB module you are seeing and that shows you an error is an Intel® Optane™ Memory module. Which is used to accelerate slower SATA storage drives. If you are looking to accelerate your primary storage device it would be recommended for you to follow the steps described in the following link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023989/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-m... https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023989/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-m...

For system acceleration the Optane Memory UI is easier to set up and works very well. Additionally to this steps you will need to confirm your BIOS is Optane ready, in this case you will need to access the BIOS and change the SATA mode from AHCI or RAID to "Intel RST premium and system acceleration". If your BIOS does not display this option you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer so they can assist you with a BIOS update and their own steps to enable the Optane memory.

I don't know, I found that discussion online but couldn't figure out if it was the same question/issue as mine.

The laptop does have Optane memory so maybe it is the same question?
from the specs: "Intel Optane Memory H10 32GB with 512GB Solid State Storage"

It probably has to do with that, have you tried their steps?

Not sure which steps to try... this link https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/memory-and-storage/optane-memory/intel-optane-memory-user-installation.pdf seems to explain how to install the memory, but it's already installed, I just want to figure out why I'm getting that error!

You want to install the program and make sure you have proper bios settings I believe.

I installed Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management, and in the Manage tab, it still says that the 27gb partition of the SSD is offline:

And in the Optane Memory tab (where the instructions continue) I get two errors:

I went through Intel's troubleshooting steps and they said to click Clear Metadata next to that drive, but when I tried that I got:
Quote
Location is not available
D:\ is not accessible. Access is denied.

And I got a popup from bitlocker asking for a 48 character password (which I never set up, it must have come with the computer).

Any ideas what to try next? TY!

No, didn't get up to that step yet. But I restarted and now that warning went away, so maybe it's fixed? I guess I"ll see if the error comes back.

Thanks for your help!

Nice! It's possible the program added or updated the drivers.

My laptop was not turning on, besides a blue power light (the screen stayed blank). I held down the power button and restarted it. Now it boots to the sign in screen but it flashes on of randomly very fast and sometimes not even the whole screen. I've tried to power it off and back on again but the same thing happens.

Acer Aspire 3 A315-53-30N0 15.6" Notebook, Intel i3, 4GB Memory, 1TB HD, Windows 10
