Was talking about the router.

Can you show more details on the rule (like editing the service)?

Yes, the routers wan IP is a public IP.

The service is a "custom service" since it doesn't fall under any of the predefined ones like minecraft or rdp etc..

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Rule seems fine, so hard to know why it's not working from outside without checking it out.

Have you tried doing the rule from something else to 81 (so publicip:10800>192.168.1.3:81)?

I know, everything on paper looks good but it doesn't go. I have to go back on site and see if they have anything else plugged in that's messing things up.

I'm not sure I understand  publicip:10800>192.168.1.3:81

Port forward some other port (incoming port forwarded is something else like port 10800) to destination (local) port 81. And try accessing it by logging by going from the outside to the public IP and the other port (10800).

Are there still people around who can fix a computer by opening it up, buying needed parts, soldering them in place?  If so, what are these people called, and how would I find one?

A few weeks ago, my laptop crashed.  Literally.  Onto a hard tile floor.  I had tripped on the charger cord, and we both went down.  We both worked fine afterwards, for a while.

But the pin on the charging cable was bent at an angle.  It can be inserted into the port, but soon that area of the computer gets very hot, and when I remove the metal pin it's scorching hot.  That can't be good, right?  I bought a new  charger, same thing happens.  Maybe the port got messed up when it fell?  Would this be a good idea to try to replace?  I see from some cool youtube videos that it can be done in about 6 minutes.

I got a recommendation for a hardware fixit guy, but he says he'll only try to replace the battery.  He doesn't do anything that requires buying new parts and soldering.

I'm pretty peeved, because my previous laptops all lasted 4-6 years, and I bought this just 15 months ago, so just a few months out of warranty.  It's an Acer Swift 3, was $520.  Acer offered to fix it if I mail it to them, for $360.  What do you guys think?

Did you buy it with an amex?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Most computer fixing/technician shops would do that, it's probably not too cheap though.

In Monsey I know Technowledge.

Thanks for the idea, @Yo ssi  and @etech0 !  I bought it with VISA, just checked the details of my card, and it says:
Extended Warranty Protection extends U.S. manufacturer warranties of three years or less on purchases made with your card. For warranties of less than one year, the term is doubled. For warranties of one to three years, the term is extended by one extra year.
So what do you think this means? Would the original manufacturer warranty have covered repair if the damage is my fault for being a klutz?  Does it mean I have to send it to the manufacturer, rather than a local techie?

Thanks, @Yisroel Tech.  I googled "laptop repair" and found a relatively local place that seems to have eavesdropped and described just my problem.  Laptop DC Power Jack Repair Replacement Service " damaged during misuse or an accident (falling, tripping over a wire)."  They charge $199 for labor, part, and return shipping.  Does that sound reasonable?  If it turns out not to help, and something else is also wrong, then I guess it would go up from there...

It would mean you have to call them and ask first...

I'm not sure about reasonable pricing, but if you don't a local community bshop you can take it in to it's possible you'll get it cheaper (iirc I was quoted only $75.)

My pc tower started making these groaning sounds (I'm assuming it's the fan)
Can anyone guide me what to do about it?

Here is a recording of how it sounds

I just realized an interesting thing, When I lay the tower on its side the noise would instantly stop, when I put it back upright it would start up again.....
If anyone can help me with this, I will appreciate it.

+1
Sounds like it's rubbing against something and changing the orientation would help.
Perhaps see if the fan is attached tightly.

Fans are secured tightly.
The noise is not constant, it starts up randomly, so I don't think that's the problem.

Can you see anything different when the noise is being made when looking at the fan from the inside?

Ok. I figured out it is the graphics card fan (I stopped the fan with my finger, and the noise stopped.)
