on a dell laptop my mouse suddendly started working the opposite way when holding down and scrolling, i have to pull down to scroll up and pull up to scroll down, how can i change that back to the other way
Search for dell touchpad settings. There should be a setting there for reverse scrolling or natural scrolling

Maybe someone here has an idea.

I've got a laptop that won't turn on.
At one point I got a warning screen that said
- Alert! TPM device not detected
-  Warning! Battery critically low
- Time of day not set please run setup program
- Invalid configuration information- please run setup program.
I hit diagnostics but it died right after.

Tried disconnecting the main battery and button battery and using either the barrel plug or the USB c. No dice. Reconnecting the batteries, no change.

When hitting the power button the key board backlight does come on.

I tried hooking it up to an external monitor, the monitor doesn't detect it.

Currently the power indicator sometimes shows normally, sometimes flashes orange.

Any ideas? I've ruled out the issue being with the display,  if the motherboard died it shouldn't have turned on that one time, and the backlight shouldn't come on. The temperature and fan seems fine.

Posting here as a last resort before bringing to a dell repair shop.

Edit: forgot to mention, laptop was recently updated to windows 11

How long did you disconnect the CMOS (button) battery for? Try disconnecting it for ~30mins and if that doesn't work try a new CMOS battery.

Thanks, will try.
I did try powering it up using the power cable with neither battery connected. Will a normal laptop at least turn on with no cmos battery?

I always put my PC to hibernate overnight/shabbos, and till I didn't press a key on my keyboard or the power it didn't start up. Suddenly last week it turns on right after I place it in hibernation mode, any idea what could be the issue?

Any suggestions for a duplicate file finder/deleter?
I would like to copy over my files and pictures to my hard drive but many of the files will be duplicates. Is there a easy way to remove them?

Best depends on your liking and what exactly you want to do (how complicated.)

While the following are classic and safe, always remember to read all windows of the installer and decline and offers they're trying to offer.

Auslogics Duplicate File Finder is probably the most known one https://www.auslogics.com/en/software/duplicate-file-finder/

dupeGuru is another one, probably more flexible and fully free (Auslogics has other premium offerings), https://dupeguru.voltaicideas.net/

CCleaner is obviously a known tool that can do this as well, but it has too many other things in the same package, https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download

Can anyone help me with this?  I have an hp desktop pc that I have been using for  some years now and it is the hp P6-2378 pc. It has a 22 inch lcd type monitor . My problem is that when I turn the pc on by hitting the push power button on my pc, the monitor turns on with hp logo on the screen and something spinning but then it goes to blank  blue screen and stays like that . It doesn’t come up with my name  and space to enter in pin/password.  I am therefore unable to use the desktop pc. I tried solving the problem but unplugging everything snd waiting and plugging back on and I also turn on hit f10 for 8 secs . Down arrow screen  3 times and hit enter 2 times but still it is the same problem. I can’t contact hp tech support cos it asks me to enter my serial number and when I do it says warranty expired in 2013. Thanks for any help. Anyway I can fix this without paying lots of money ? Any easy steps you can show me to fix this ? I am not good at tech things .

you have to troubleshoot. it can possibly be the hard drive thats causing problems. open the case and disconnect the hard drive from the power and from the sata cable, the cable that connects it to the motherboard. see if that gets you any further. by further i dont mean fixes the problem but at least lets you get into bios.

I am not diy and don’t know anything about computer hardware issues. I am wondering where I should take my desktop to for cheap repair . Any one knows where is it cheaper to get this checked  and  fixed? Staples best buy micro center etc?  If I buy a new will cost me at least $600 for a decent one

If the "server" pc doesnt have any screens attached to it, can the user that's remoting in with ms rdp still use their 2 screens?

Currently the server has 2 screens but I want to unplug them..

Based on my experience, Rdp will adjust to what the local PC has. If 1 monitor then 1 while connected to the other PC… if 2 then 2... If 3 then 3...
(One of the properties is to "extend" to all monitors)
