Comp 1-(after restarting with rescue disc inside and aborting because of frozen screen:) 'Last attempt to restart system from previous location failed.   Delete restoration data and proceed to boot menu OR continue with system boot?  Which one?

Comp 2- Under my HP model I found Realtek, but not Ralink network adapter.  Silly me didn't write down all those numbers after the Ralink icon before I deleted it.  Listed options for my model include Mediatek 802.11 Wireless LAN or should I search the web for the Ralink?

Install the realtek one, then do an ipconfig.

While you are working on all of this...in your OP you said you were trying to do a 4BM, hence 4 laptops.  Why do you need 4 laptops?

Comp#2-I have the Realtek and a Ralink-driver-for-my-computer-downloaded-from-Softpedia-on-the-web driver on a flashdrive.  To what folder do I transfer them on computer #2 or do I just run the .exe files of of the flashdrive?

I would transfer them to your computer for future use, if necessary.  It does not matter where, then run the install file.

Comp 2-Pressed the exe file for Realtek:  InstaShield Wizard is repairing Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver......"The Realtek Network cController was not found.  If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."

Wrong driver.  Did you try the realtek from the computer manufacturer's website?

Yes, for my specific model.
Comp#1 XP- pressing f8 on startup gives me options:  safe mode, etc..., 'Last known good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)' or 'Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only).  Which one?

Comp #2-Hey! Just figured out..somehow 8.1 got installed on my computer (Ugh.) HP lists Ralink under Windows 8 drivers, not windows 8.1 drivers!  Possibilities:  Both are wireless LAN, but one is labeled b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter.  Try both?   Also, it has a different Realtech.  Gonna try.

Windows 8 does not include DVD and Blu-ray codes for free. The DVD codes are included in the for-pay Windows Media Center upgrade.

Try VLC.
That should work.

I think it has to do with paying licensing fees to the DVD organization. That's the reason Linux doesn't have DVD codecs. However, according to PCWorld, most PC manufacturers bundled their own DVD player software with the computer, so most of the  time it's moot.

My wife has a lenovo for a while now its been giving us the following issue The D: drive is full so every 5 mins a running low on disk space massage is popping up and is really annoying but besides for that the laptop is working really slow which is not making any sense since the primary drive is C: so why is it slowing down everything? And if it does make sense then now what I went onto the d: drive and I don't find anything that should fill it up so I thought about a virus but a virus scan didn't bring up anything. So now I'm thinking about reformating the laptop just wanna check if you guys have any thoughts before I go ahead

You're probably running Windows 8.  D: is probably the backup drive, and Windows is continuously backing up to that partition.  Just disable backups.
