Try updating latest drivers on ultrabook. Is it the centrino 7260?

And the drivers are updated. It's a new device. I got rid of most of the junk and did all the updates AFAIK.

My one year old Dell Laptop Inspiron 5323 screen randomly doesn't turn on. I Sometimes have to try 10 - 15 times to get it on. The power light lights up and some buttons flash as if its going to turn on but the screen stays off. I keep trying until it randomly works. Any ideas what the issue could be? TIA

Any number of things, but my money would be on a motherboard on its way out the door.  Does the machine function normally once booted up?

If you are getting power every single time, that (most likely) eliminates a few issues (power switch, battery, ac, etc).

That's weird. Maybe there's a short in the power button?

Whoops, I read your OP wrong. Did you try an external monitor? Maybe there's a loose connection to the screen.

Good idea

It could be the mother board the computer started getting really hot sometimes

I just tried turning it on 10 -20 times -nothing. I felt it was really hot so I put in the fridge for a half hour and now after 3 tries it worked. weird
