I have a computer that I want to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional and I have a disk for 7 Professional from another computer. Can I just use that disk to install it on the new computer? Would the same be true when upgrading from Windows 7 Home Premium to 7 Professional? TIA

The short answer is yes.  Backup your data first.

download driver manually from dell. Even if the system says it's up to date

Thanks! Did that now 24 hrs without issues, lets hope it stays that way

So it didnt fix the issue. However I chatted with dell and being that I was still under warranty (I assume bec it was less than a year) the tech took remote control and claimed its a known issue with a windows update sometime in July and erased the update and blocked it from re installing that update. Hoping that fixes the issue

Thanks. (I meant to respond the other day but got sidetracked after I saw the post)
They are computers I got from other offices so I'm not concerned about the old data.

Not sure if I should ask this here, or in the freedompop thread, but here goes:

I have 2 computers that are set up to sync with bittorrentsync (which is great). Now I don't have real internet yet. If I hook them both up to my freedompop hotspot, anyone know if they will eat into my data usage to sync over internet, or if they'll sync through the "network"?

TIA
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

BitTorrentSync can work over LAN. I'm not sure how to set it up, but you should be able to do so in a way that it doesn't use any data.

So I guess my question is if when you connect two computers to one FP device, is it a LAN or something else.

64bit - https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10586995/
32bit - https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10586994/

I linked the above as they have all updated included.
If you want directly from Microsoft:
http://heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links
You want the "Media Refresh / U " version.  Not N.

I just installed Windows 7 Pro on a computer which had Windows XP Pro and I noticed it didn't delete all the old stuff. How do I reinstall Windows 7 Pro AND delete all the old data?

When you install windows 7, choose custom not upgrade. Then wipe partition/drive, and continue installation

Recently I started running 20mbps over wifi but still get 50+ plugged directly into modem. Time for new router? Is less than 2 years old.

See http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html
I finally got it (after 4 installations done incorrectly). I had been running the installation program from within windows and it didn't give me the option to edit "drive options" (even when I selected custom installation) so I couldn't wipe the old drive. Once I booted from the disc I was able to do it correctly and wiped all the data.

I didn't check every device formally but they all are definitely feeling slower

I'm sorry for not clarifying that!
Glad to hear you got it worked out
