I have a PC that has a VGA and a DVI port. I'm trying to hook up dual monitors. What is the proper procedure? I can't figure it out. I bought a DVI-VGA converter and it doesn't work. I read that there are a couple different DVI plugs. My DVI has only one vertical and the rest horizontal pins. Can someone enlighten me what I'm doing wrong.

Does one screen work? Maybe the computer can only support up to one monitor at a time?

I don't think it can only support one monitor because it has 2 ports. DVI ports are new to me. Reading a bit it looks like there are different DVI ports and some don't support VGA monitors. I just don't know what when where.

I would test that monitor in the VGA slot to make sure that it's not the monitor that's the issue.

The USB on my laptop takes about a minute after I open my laptop, until it recognizes the usb that I insert in it. Please help me. Thanks!

If my laptop is closed and hibernates, and then I open it, if I connect it to my printer thru usb, it takes a minute to recognize the printer. Or if I connect my ipod it takes a minute too, etc.

Skip converter - go straight dvi to dvi monitor.
Are the DVI and VGA on the actual motherboard or graphics card, some motherboards give you both options but it will only support one or the other. Most Graphics cards can usually handle 2 simultaneous connections

Do macs cache pages differently than windows?

I have a few pages on my website that were changed. Those of us running windows can see the changes just fine, but those of us with macs (not me...) still see the old versions. We tried clearing the web browser cache but it didn't help. Is there another cache somewhere that we should clear?

Thanks!

Privacy>clear browsing data. Should do it.

You can insert this code into page to avoid This issue in the future: content="no-cache"

You can try this: In Safari, down the ⇧ (Shift) key while clicking the refresh button. This will perform a “hard” refresh, which bypasses the local cache.

We tried contol-shift-delete and cleared the cache, and also tried hard refresh. Does Clear Browsing Data do the same thing, or something else?

It deletes more than just the cache like download history / saved form data. In any case even though you'll find a solution for your computer and clear the cache. Others will still have this same issue unless you specify in code for it to expire or not to be cached.

Right. But on the other hand caching pages makes the site load faster. How do I figure out what the balance should be?

Also, I would guess that pages that are already cached would not get that "no cache" page. Correct?

Read this: https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/best-practices/caching
Quote from Google
Quote
Set caching headers for all static resources. For all cacheable resources, we recommend the following settings:Set Expires to a minimum of one month, and preferably up to one year, in the future. (We prefer Expires over Cache-Control: max-age because it is is more widely supported.) Do not set it to more than one year in the future, as that violates the RFC guidelines.

If you know exactly when a resource is going to change, setting a shorter expiration is okay. But if you think it "might change soon" but don't know when, you should set a long expiration and use URL fingerprinting (described below). Setting caching aggressively does not "pollute" browser caches: as far as we know, all browsers clear their caches according to a Least Recently Used algorithm; we are not aware of any browsers that wait until resources expire before purging them.

I have my phone connected to my computer via BT, but the windows dialer isn't recognized as a "communication" program, so the audio is routed to the default audio device, and not the communication device (which was kinda the whole point). Is there a way to designate a program as a communication program? Or any other ideas?
