LOL I forgot that most people don't have extensions showing. I always have them showing.
Why? Before the doc name there's a picture with a blue w for word docs, a green x for excel etc.

But there are many more file types than that, and I won't always recognize the picture.

It really depends on your usage. If all you ever look at is word/excel files, you wouldn't need to see the extensions.

PS: it's also helpful for looking out for viruses and maleware... if any file has the wrong extension for its icon you know to beware!

Moving my questions over from the desktop deal thread...

Pc I bought in December 2007 is having issues, getting BSOD, restarting etc. I reinstalled windows a couple weeks ago but it didnt really help, but Currently have:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz) 6 gb of ddr2 ram. Had 8 but one dim went bad. It came with 2gb and I upgraded it. Got it in 11 of 2007 with Vista and someone at work have me windows 7 pro 64bit.
User mostly for movies and TV and some word processing or spreadsheets over citrix.
What specs would i be looking for and any good deals out now? Perhaps wait till balck friday? Costco?

Try replacing the hard drive with a ssd. For your requirements you may still be OK with this system once you get it up and running.

My father in law claims that if it was really a bad hard drive windows would not have allowed itself to be reinstalled, and it must be another system error.  Is this true?
We keep getting BSOD or windows it restarts and automatically launches start up repair and doesnt find anything to repair.

IMO, partially true.  It is likely that you would have been given some problems during the installation.  Although nothing is impossible.

Try to reseat the memory, and remove all comes unnecessary add in cards.

Should I bother with trying an ssd?

How often does the issue persist?  If regularly, I would first try one memory stick (or two, if they are paired) at a time.

Take out all of the sticks, blow some air.  Reseat one (or two), and test.

I'm trying to create recovery drive using the Windows recovery drive with a USB, and this is what I get:

-I'm running 8.1
-My USB has 115 GB available space
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

If I run and pass memtest86,then it's likely not memory right?

As easy as it is to reseat memory, I would still try it.

Just taking a guess...
Maybe Windows can't handle the partition, or such a large USB.
Do you have another USB to try? (format it first)

I tried formatting, but no luck.
I only have this USB to test.

Anyone know of a website or program that will allow me to customize and then print a Hebrew/English calendar? By customizing I mean mostly putting extra words on specific days.
TIA
