Amazing pictures!
Dying to do Tibet. If it wasn't so politicized and impossible to properly explore!
I was right. Everest is much more imposing from the north. On the side you see Everest a lot, and you KNOW it's the tallest mountain in the world but you don't see it that way, it's always overshadowed by other mountains.
Nothing from the way to Kathmandu?

It was similar views from Everest to Kathmandu passing many villages, but from Lhasa to Everest the views are much nicer as seen above, Tibet is very easy and safe to get to and travel, just follow the rules your tour company will do everything for you from hotels to visa to transportation, no pictures of KTM as I was there for 2 days I was in KTM in 2008 for trekking and I did do the Everest scenic flight.

True but it's all a view from the outside. Part of what was so amazing about the Everest trek was the being down on the ground, interacting with the locals, going off on a day trip on a whim if you want. In Tibet its much more regulated, you only see what the Chinese want you to see and you probably can NOT interact with real Tibetans.
Just how I see things, I may be wrong.

Also Tibet is more organized such as the roads and other stuff, yes in 2008 when I trekked Nepal I did stay and interact with the locals. Also did abit in Tibet but in a different way.

Interesting tidbit I noticed in this video is that first class passengers also pee - just like the rest of us!

Awesome pix and TR! few questions: did you get altitude sickness in Lhasa? How much the Tibet permit cost? Is it per person or family?

Thanks, Yes felt dizziness and short of breathe in Lhasa, but as we drove from  Lhasa to Everest base camp  the sickness became worse and worse, because when  you drive to Base camp your acceding fast versus trekking.

The Tibet permit was arranged by the tour company, don't remember but it was not allot.
